As Minister of Development Cooperation, he focuses on strengthening human rights and promoting local economic growth in the partner countries.
The Digital Agenda, Telecom and Postal Services portfolio focuses on the maximisation of the economic potential of the digital economy.

2012-2014: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Pensions
Taking the oath in the presence of H.M. King Albert II, 20 November 2012On 20 November 2012, Alexander De Croo took the oath as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Pensions in the presence of H.M. King Albert II.
In Pensions, he completed the first pension reform package since a long time, and stood at the cradle of the 2020-2040 Pension Reform Commission.
The reform proposals prepared by the 2020-2040 Pension Reform Commission form the basis of the pension reforms introduced by the Michel I Government.

2009-2012: Party Chairman and Senator
In 2009, Alexander De Croo took the step from the business world into a political career.
Under the wings of European Party Leader Guy Verhofstadt, he took part in the European elections in May 2009.
In December 2009, he was convincingly elected Open VLD Party Chairman by the Open VLD members.

Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern UniversityGraduated in Business Engineering, Alexander De Croo completed an MBA at the Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University) in Chicago (United States), in 2004.
Between 1999 and 2006, he was employed as a strategy consultant at The Boston Consulting Group, one of the leading management consulting firms worldwide.
In 2006, he founded his own company: Darts-IP, a consulting company in the field of intellectual property rights, which today operates throughout the world.
